Welcomed Home

God is the faithful Father,
I am the prodigal son.
He loves and waits and provides,
yet I run and run and run.

God is the faithful Father,

I am the wayward child.
He cares and cries and invites,
Yet I abuse His grace and go wild.

God is the faithful Father,

I am the sorry son.
He welcomes me and rejoices.
I realize the wrong that I've done.

God is the faithful Father,

He sent His only Son,
To mend the relationship,
To forgive me for what I've done.

God is the faithful Father,

I am the thankful guest.
He gives me a fresh start in life,
And shows me His presence is best.

God is the faithful Father,

I am the happy slave.
In obedience I've found freedom.
For good works He me did save.

God is the faithful Father,

I am the hopeful heir
To enjoy heaven with Him
To celebrate forever there.

-Inspired by Jesus' story found in Luke 15
